Antonio Sarpe is Brazilian, born in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
During adolescence he became interested and practised sports, music, dance, theatre and body therapies.
He came into contact with Biodanza in 1980, when he began attending a regular group.
He graduated from the Biodanza School in Rio de Janeiro, completing the course in 1984.
In 1990, he associated himself again to the Rio de Janeiro School, directed by Maria Adela Cremona, by becoming first a member of staff, then coordinator and then school director.
He was a founding member of the Rio de Janeiro Council of Facilitators, which organized specialization courses and methodological enhancement, stimulating the desire for continuous learning.
In 1998, he first came to Europe to give a class at the German School and at the European Congress in Switzerland. Since then, he started to work on a regular basis in Europe and in schools around the world.
In 2002, he was invited to come to the school of Biodanza Rolando Toro of Portugal, directed by Roberto Mirelman and coordinated by Cristiane Abecassis. He facilitated in the teacher training school and later on in guidance workshops for facilitators. The following year, he was invited by facilitator Nuno Pinto to do a vivências enhancement project, for his students of regular groups. From this partnership, a Biodanza centre was created in Porto.
In 2004, Rolando Toro gave him permission to found the School of Biodanza in Porto, northern Portugal. In 2005, the first class of the school of Biodanza Rolando Toro in Porto was initiated. In 2008, he took the lead as director of the school of Biodanza Rolando Toro of Portugal in Lisbon. He decided to move to Portugal, to dedicate himself to the management of the School and to expand Biodanza throughout the country.
He is the coordinator for the International Biocentric Foundation of one of the centres of the CIMEB Network - Biodanza Research Centres for Exercises and Music - and he is the Director of Biodanza Schools of Portugal (Lisbon and Porto). He is also dedicated to a project called "Continuous Training for Biodanza Facilitators", based on his 28 years of Facilitation in Biodanza, which organizes a facilitation program called "Progressiveness Radicalization." This project was created by him about 15 years ago in Rio de Janeiro and, since then, he has guided facilitators in different countries such as Portugal, Holland, Austria, Spain, Germany, France, Brazil, Venezuela and Israel.
The following are some of his specializations in Extensions of Biodanza: Minotaur Project, Tree of Desires, Identity and the Four Elements, Aquatic Biodanza, Rescue of Deep Manhood and Womanhood, Biocentric Education, Biodanza in Organizations.
In Biodanza teacher training schools, he teaches topics such as Identity and Integration, Psychological Aspects, Vivência, Contact and Caresses, Sexuality, among others. He teaches the following extensions: Minotaur Project, Identity and the Four Elements and The Tree of Desires.
